Biography

Sean Stokes is an award-winning actor and singer.  His New York and regional stage credits include John Henry Redwood’s The Old Settler, Carson McCullers’ The Member of the Wedding, August Strindberg’s Easter, and William Saroyan’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play The Time of Your Life.

  From period dramas to musicals and comedies, Sean is an all-around storyteller.  OffOffOnline called him a “strong leading man” for his dramatic depth, while BroadwayWorld put a spotlight on his musical theater side.  He won a 2014 Audelco Award for his work in the romantic comedy Sassy Mamas by Celeste Bedford-Walker.

Sean made his national tour debut in the musical Freedom Train and had a principal role in the Ars Nova concert Mercy Streeta new hip-hop/R&B musical by Joe Drymala (White Noise).  As a songwriter and musician himself, Sean’s credits include MTV, Burger King and TV-One.

Sean is a former international radio broadcaster, having served two years with the U.S. government-owned news agency Voice of America.  He is the recipient of a Charles Kuralt Fellowship in International Broadcasting.

A native of Florida and North Carolina, Sean graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill.  He is represented by New York theatrical agent Meg Pantera.
